' Accurate information about the incidence of breast-feeding is difficult to find, and is still more difficult to compare on account of the difference in the methods of enumeration used. We desire to know what proportion of babies in various countries or in different social groups are breastor artificially-fed from birth. We desire to know also at what age weaning takes place. It is this precise information which is lacking.'
